EN ISO 11612 INDUMENTI PER LA PROTEZIONE CONTRO IL CALORE E LA FIAMMA EN ISO 11612 CLOTHING FOR PROTECTION AGAINST HEAT AND FLAMES La finalità della norma è di fornire i requisiti prestazionali minimi per gli indumenti di protezione contro il calore e la fiamma che possono essere utilizzati per un’ampia gamma di utilizzazioni finali. Per molti dei pericoli si distinguono tre livelli prestazionali. The purpose of the standard is to provide the minimum performance requirements for garments for protection against heat and flames that can be adopted for a wide range of end uses. Many of the dangers are distinguished into three performance levels. The level of individual protection to provide depends on the outcome of the risk assessment that is the responsibility of the employer and not a manufacturing rule; the assessment should be made prior to the decision to purchase. The type and level of protection of the garments chosen should be based on the results of the risk assessment. SCOPO E CAMPO D’APPLICAZIONE SCOPE AND FIELD OF APPLICATION La norma specifica i requisiti prestazionali per capi di abbigliamento che proteggono il corpo, ad eccezione delle mani, da calore e fuoco. Rientrano nella norma le ghette, i cappucci e copri stivali. I requisiti si applicano a capi di abbigliamento che possono essere indossati per un’ampia gamma di utilizzazioni finali, quando sono richiesti indumenti con proprietà di propagazione di fiamma limitata equando l’utilizzatore può essere sottoposto a calore radiante o convettivo o per contatto o a spruzzi di metallo fuso. The standard specifies the performance requirements for items of clothing that protect the body, with the exception of hands, from heat and fire. Subject to the standard are the gaiters, hoods and over-boots. The requirements apply to clothing when garments with limited properties of flame propagation are required and when the user can be subjected to radiant heat or convective heat or to contact with or splashes from molten metal. 10

Per tutte le utilizzazioni, il requisito prestazionale minimo deve essere almeno una delle lettere codice per le prestazioni di
trasmissione del calore, cioè lettera codice B, lettera codice C, lettera codice D, lettera codice E o lettera codice F, in ag-
giunta ai requisiti prestazionali minimi obbligatori del punto 6. L’applicazione dei requisiti prestazionali del presente punto è
pertinente secondo l’uso previsto dichiarato dal fabbricante per l’indumento.
For all end-uses, the minimum performance requirement shall be at least one of the heat transmission performance code
letters, i.e. code letter B, code letter C, code letter D, code letter E or code letter F, in addition to the obligatory minimum
performance requirements of Clause 6. The application of the performance requirements of this clause will be relevant
according to the intended use claimed by the manufacturer for the clothing.

Quando sottoposti a prova in conformità alla ISO 9151, i capi di abbigliamento a strato singolo o multistrato e/o gli assem-
blaggi di indumenti dichiarati idonei ad offrire la protezione contro il calore convettivo, devono soddisfare almeno il livello
prestazionale B1 nel prospetto 1. Deve essere sottoposto a prova il numero di provini indicato nella ISO 9151 e le prestazioni
devono essere classificate in base al singolo risultato più basso arrotondato a 0,1 s.
When tested in accordance with ISO 9151, single or multilayer garments and/or clothing assemblies that are clai-

cato nella norma e le prestazioni devono essere classificate in base al singolo risultato più basso, arrotondato a 0,1 s.
Radiant heat (code letter C) When tested in accordance with ISO 6942, Method B, at a heat flux density of 20 kW/m2,
single or multilayer garments and/or clothing assemblies that are claimed to offer protection against radiant heat shall
meet at least performance level C1 in Table 2. Tests on metallized materials shall be carried out after pre-treatment as
specified in Annex A. The number of samples indicated in the standard shall be tested and the performance classified
according to the lowest single result rounded to 0,1 s.

garments and/or clothing assemblies that are claimed to offer protection against molten iron splash shall meet at least
performance level E1 in Table 4.

PROTECTIVE GLOVES
I Guanti anticalore, proteggono le mani dal calore da contatto, convettivo, radiante e dai piccoli spruzzi o grandi proiezioni
di metallo sfuso.
Tutti i guanti anticalore devono rispettare:
• i requisiti base per i generali stabiliti dalla norma EN 420, che ne precisa: i riferimenti del fabbricante e la marcatura
del prodotto, l’innocuità dei materiali (es pH dei materiali) il rispetto delle taglie, la destrezza, la composizione del guanto,
l’imballaggio, stoccaggio e lavaggio, la documentazione tecnica che ne garantirà le caratteristiche.
•
• I requisiti stabiliti dalla norma EN 407 per la protezione termica, che ne precisa: resistenza all’infiammabilità, resistenza
al calore da contatto, calore convettivo, calore radiante, resistenza a picoli spruzzi di metallo fuso e, nel caso di guanti
anticalore, utilizzati in lavori a rischio meccanico dovranno rispettare anche i requisiti relativi alla norma EN 388 rischi
meccanici che ne precisa : la resistenza all’abrasione, al taglio, allo strappo, alla perforazione.
A seguito dei risultati ottenuti con prove tecniche specifiche si attribuisce un livello di protezione ad ogni tipo di guanto
indicato da un pittogramma che ne identifica il tipo di rischio. Il livello di protezione viene riportato mediante una lettera che
ne identifica la prestazione e da dei numeri da 1 a 5 che ne stabiliscono il grado di resistenza, come indicato nelle seguenti
tabelle.
The heat-resistant Gloves protect hands from contact, convective and radiant heat and from small splashing or large
projections of molten metal.
All heat-resistant gloves must comply with:
• the basic general requirements laid down in EN 420 specifying: the references of the manufacturer and the marking of
the product, the harmlessness of the materials (e.g. pH of the materials) size compliance, dexterity, composition of the
glove, packaging, storage and washing, technical documentation that will ensure the characteristics.
• the requirements laid down in EN 407 for thermal protection specifying: resistance to flammability, heat resistance from
contact, convective heat, radiant heat, resistance to small splashing of molten metal and, in the case of heat-resistant
gloves used in work at mechanical risk, they must also comply with the requirements relative to the EN 388 standard on
mechanical hazards specifying: resistance to abrasion, cutting, tearing, perforation.
Following the results obtained with specific technical tests, a protection level is attributed to each type of glove indicated by
a pictogram which identifies the type of risk. The protection level is shown by a letter that identifies the performance and by
numbers from 1 to 5 which establish the degree of resistance, as indicated in the following tables.
