IN THE CITY “Mapping” a phenomenon means acquiring knowledge in
order to make the incursions into the process effective, as a
real and ongoing process. There are several ways to map
these real processes, gathering information, clustering,
re-grouping, visualising and analysing to make sense of it and
to better grasp a design situation and/or problem.

_definition of actions to face the identified problems
_establish possible alternatives and realistic intervention
strategies for each
_definition of a different level of urgency and possible deviations
_drafting of an action scheme and “battle plan”
“Building scenarios” focuses on the definition of a series of design strategies to intervene in the real
process being mapped. The formulation of any scenario is the result and consequence of the
critical elaboration of what emerged while mapping; where the relationship between these two
aspects is not recognizable, the project proposal automatically loses strength in negotiation.
