The e-health group is looking for a researcher with a strong background in Machine learning to work with
large sets of clinical data derived from patients’ Electronic Health Records and behaviour data (including
trackers, smartphones, and qualitative data). The aim of the work will be establishment of predictive
models based on both clinical and behaviour data to estimate the risk of patients developing a chronic
disease, co-morbidity, or related complications. Considering high-dimensional, irregular, temporal, and
sparse nature of clinical and behavioural data, knowledge of Deep Learning methods and architectures
would be considered advantageous. This work will be carried out as part of Horizon 2020 EU projects,
industrial projects as well as projects funded by the local and Italian government. You will have the
opportunity to work with real clinical data, leading to publications in high-profile international journals
and conferences, supported by a team of clinical experts as well as key industrial players. The successful
candidate is expected to: • Write journal articles, conference papers, and research reports, presenting
them at the relevant scientific meetings and conferences; • Use machine learning frameworks to process
clinical data, interfacing with healthcare systems and reporting of the results; • Interact with a multi-
disciplinary team that includes domain experts (clinicians), healthcare companies as well as other
partners in the healthcare process; • Participate in preparation of project proposals leading to funded
activities. The ideal candidate should have: • PhD degree in computer science, engineering, information
sciences or a related field; • Solid background in machine learning, including knowledge algorithms,
frameworks, and tools to analyse high-dimensional, sparse, and irregular data; • Strong interest in
application of machine learning methods and algorithms in clinical domain; • Ability to work with diverse
partners, including domain experts (clinicians), industry and graduate students; • Strong interpersonal,
teamwork, communication and writing skills; • Oral and written proficiency in English. Employment: Fixed
Term Contract full time Start date: May 2018 (but no later than summer 2018) End date: 30 November

mentale dei giovani da svolgersi nelle scuole medie inferiori della Provincia di Trento nell’ambito del
progetto Europeo UPRIGHT (RIA H2020). In particolare, il/la candidato/a di successo supporterà le
attività di formazione e validazione pilota (in Trentino) del programma UPRIGHT, indirizzato a studenti,
insegnanti e genitori delle scuole coinvolte, contribuendo alla corretta raccolta ed analisi dei dati
sull’efficacia del programma, in coordinamento con il Dip. della Conoscenza della Provincia Autonoma di
Trento. Il/La candidato/a ideale possiede i seguenti requisiti: • Laurea magistrale/specialistica in
Psicologia (indirizzo psicologia dello sviluppo); • Esperienza nella progettazione e conduzione di interventi
per il benessere mentale in ambito scolastico; • Buona conoscenza delle metodologie per la valutazione
psicologica ed il supporto di minori in età adolescenziale; • Esperienza nella raccolta ed analisi dei dati
(pacchetti statistici STATA, SPSS); • Conoscenza di strumenti diagnostici per la misurazione della
salute/benessere mentale in età evolutiva e adulta; • Esperienza nella preparazione di materiali per
l’erogazione di interventi di formazione e consulenza familiare in ambito di psicologia dello sviluppo; •
Familiarità con l’organizzazione e gestione di focus group, interviste, colloqui e counseling in ambito
scolastico; • Esperienza nella creazione partecipativa di attività che favoriscano la crescita personale, la

POSTDOCS IN MICROBIOME SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY
We are seeking a number of talented and motivated post doctorial associate at the Bacterial Synthetic
Biology section led by Professor Morten Sommer at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for
Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark.
The present opportunity relates to a recent grant obtained by the group to use synthetic biology to
develop engineered bacterial therapeutics for the gut microbiome. The center comprises PIs spanning
preclinical through to clinical researchers and has as a goal to test these novel synthetic biology

PHD SCHOLARSHIPS IN MICROBIOME SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY
We are seeking a number of talented and motivated PhD students at the Bacterial Synthetic Biology
section led by Professor Morten Sommer at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at
the Technical University of Denmark.
The present opportunity relates to a recent grant obtained by the group to use synthetic biology to
develop engineered bacterial therapeutics for the gut microbiome. The comprises PIs spanning preclinical
through to clinical researchers and has as a goal to test these novel synthetic biology interventions in
human clinical trials.
