Pro-Gest: il fatturato 2021 supera i 700 milioni
       Anche la redditività in crescita nonostante il significativo aumento dei costi energetici

Ospedaletto d’Istrana (TV), 28 gennaio 2022 - Il Consiglio di Amministrazione di Pro-Gest Spa,
gruppo leader in Italia nella produzione integrata di carta, cartone, imballi e packaging, comunica
che il Gruppo ha chiuso l’esercizio 2021 con un fatturato superiore ai 700 milioni di euro, in crescita
di circa il 60% rispetto al 2020, in cui si erano registrati ricavi consolidati pari a 448,5 milioni di euro.

L’importante crescita registrata dal Gruppo in termini di fatturato trova riscontro anche nell’EBITDA,
rispetto allo stesso periodo dell’anno precedente.

Il Presidente Bruno Zago ha commentato i risultati conseguiti nel 2021: “Possiamo dire che la
crescita fatta registrare nel 2021 ha le sue radici nel continuo consolidamento della filiera
verticalmente integrata e negli oltre 500 milioni di euro investiti in tecnologia negli ultimi cinque
anni. I numeri raggiunti da Pro-Gest, il suo parco macchine all’avanguardia, la solidità manageriale
dimostrata di fronte a condizioni economiche esogene sfavorevoli, ci consentono di pianificare una
forte espansione in Italia e di guardare con sempre maggiore interesse ai mercati internazionali”

Il 2021 ha visto un significativo aumento dei prezzi di tutte le materie prime e un importante
incremento dei costi di acquisto dell’energia, con un picco nel mese di dicembre che ha fatto segnare
un +350% rispetto ai primi mesi dello stesso anno, superando addirittura il costo della materia
prima. Così anche i trasporti hanno risentito di incrementi significativi nei prezzi dei combustibili. I
risultati raggiunti dal Gruppo dentro questo quadro economico complesso testimoniano la solidità
di Pro-Gest e ne consolidano la leadership a livello nazionale in diversi settori, dalla produzione di
carta – grazie alle sei cartiere del Gruppo – alla produzione di cartone ondulato e alla crescente
presenza nel packaging.

“L’Italia sconta purtroppo un ritardo strutturale sui temi energetici rispetto ad altri competitor
europei e questo rappresenta com’è noto un fattore penalizzante per realtà come Pro-Gest, sempre
più proiettate a competere sul panorama internazionale oltre che sul fronte domestico. Per questo
motivo gli eccellenti risultati finanziari, nonostante un contesto macroeconomico e geopolitico
sfavorevole, attestano la bontà degli investimenti compiuti in questi anni in termini di
differenziazione delle fonti energetiche con impianti fotovoltaici e cogenerazione ad alta efficienza”

La posizione finanziaria netta al 31 dicembre 2021 risulta in linea con le previsioni del budget 2021
grazie ad una efficace gestione del capitale circolante collegato all’incremento dei prezzi sul mercato
e ai significativi investimenti compiuti, come previsto dai piani di sviluppo.

Pro-Gest: 2021 turnover exceeds 700 million
             Profitability also increased despite the significant increase in energy costs

Ospedaletto d’Istrana (TV), Italy, January 28, 2022 - The Board of Directors of Pro-Gest Spa, a leading
Italian group in the integrated production of paper, cardboard and packaging, announces that the
Group closed the year 2021 with a turnover exceeding € 700 million, up by approximately 60%
compared to 2020, in which consolidated revenues of € 448.5 million were recorded.

The significant growth recorded by the Group in terms of turnover is also reflected in the EBITDA,
compared to the same period of the previous year.

The Chairman Bruno Zago commented on the results achieved in 2021: “We can say that the growth
recorded in 2021 has its roots in the continuous consolidation of the vertically integrated supply
chain and in the over € 500 million invested in technology in the last five years. The numbers achieved
by Pro-Gest, its state-of-the-art machinery park, the managerial solidity demonstrated in the face of
unfavourable external economic conditions, allow us to plan a strong expansion in Italy and to look
with increasing interest at international markets"

The year 2021 saw a significant increase in the prices of all raw materials and an important increase
in energy purchase costs, with a peak in December which registered a + 350% compared to the first
months of the same year, exceeding even the cost of the raw materials. Thus, transport has also
suffered from significant increases in fuel prices. The results achieved by the Group within this
complex economic framework testify to the solidity of Pro-Gest and consolidate its leadership at
national level in various sectors, from the production of paper - thanks to the six paper mills of the
Group - to the production of corrugated cardboard and the growing presence in packaging.

"Italy, unfortunately, suffers a structural delay on energy issues compared to other European
competitors and this represents a penalizing factor for companies such as Pro-Gest, increasingly
projected to compete on the international scene as well as on the domestic front. For this reason,
the excellent financial results, despite an unfavourable macroeconomic and geopolitical context,
attest to the goodness of the investments made in recent years in terms of differentiation of energy
sources with photovoltaic systems and high efficiency cogeneration " commented the CEO and
President of the Cepi ContainerBoard European Association Francesco Zago.

The net financial position at December 31, 2021 is in line with the forecasts of the 2021 budget
thanks to an effective management of working capital linked to the increase in market prices and
the significant investments made, as forecasted by the development plans.
