La città di Augusta è situata lungo la costa orientale siciliana, a metà strada tra Siracusa e Catania. Catania con il monte Etna, il vulcano più grande
d’Europa, in costante attività, con le sue mirabolanti eruzioni, Siracusa, fiorente città della Magna Grecia e già capitale dell’impero bizantino, piena
di tesori d’arte incomparabili, quali l’antico teatro greco, il più grande dopo quello di Epidauro in Grecia, sul colle Temenite, con l’enorme grotta
naturale detta Orecchio di Dionisio, con la superba cattedrale di Santa Lucia costruita dove sorgeva il tempio
di Atena, di cui sono conservate le possenti colonne, nella mitica isola di Ortigia dove viene coltivata ancora
la pianta egizia del papiro. Augusta si trova anche a pochi chilometri di distanza da Noto, la cittadina dov’è
conservato il più bel barocco di Sicilia.
Augusta is located along the eastern Sicilian coast, halfway between Syracuse and Catania. Catania with Mount Etna,

La sua fondazione, avvenuta tra il 1233 e 1234, fu voluta dall’imperatore Federico II di Svevia, erede della casata tedesca degli Hoenstaufen e di
normanni di Altavilla, re di Sicilia (con cui si intendeva tutta l’Italia meridionale da Palermo a Napoli, da Siracusa a Lecce), imperatore del Sacro
Romano Impero, e si inserì nel quadro un vasto progetto militare volto a potenziare e rafforzare le zone più deboli del suo regno. All’età di Federico
appartengono il castello Ursino di Catania, il castel Maniace di Siracusa e il castello svevo di Augusta.

Megara Hyblaea
A pochissimi kilometri da Augusta sono visibili gli scavi, compiuti dal francese
George Vallet, della gloriosa colonia Mègara Hyblaea, distrutta dai Romani bel
212 a. C. Pochi chilometri dista pure la città collinare di Sortino, celebe rima per il suo miele, fin dai tempi del
poeta latino Virgilio, nelle cui vicinanze si può ammirare l’antichissima necropoli di Pantalica.

Il porto Turistico nasce su una superficie totale di 79950 mq ed ha una superficie a
terra di 36800 mq con uno specchio acqueo di 43150 mq.

Può dare ospitalità a 254 unità su uno sviluppo di 800 mt di banchine e 370 mt di
pontili, fornendo i servizi primari di corrente elettrica e acqua dolce.

I primi 66 posti barca sono già fruibili mentre gli altri 181 saranno pronti a breve.

Entrando dall’imboccatura troviamo sulla dritta la stazione di bunkeraggio che eroga carburanti (gasolio e benzine verdi) nazionali e defiscalizzati per
gli usi commerciali, ha una stazione di conferimento acque oleose di sentina e acque nere.

L’Etna, la voce della terra - Etna, the voice of the earth
La Sicilia, l’unico posto al mondo in cui si può sciare guardando il mare oppure, nuotare con accanto sua maestà: L’Etna, uno dei più alti vulcani al
mondo, è entrato a far parte della World Heritage List dell’Unesco nel giugno 2013.
Sicily, the only place in the world where you can ski while looking at the sea or swimming with your

Le frequenti eruzioni che nel corso della storia hanno minacciato la popolazione dei dintorni,
hanno soprattutto plasmato il paesaggio circostante, trasformando la flora e la fauna
mediterranea in un ambiente dal fascino quasi lunare.

In questo contesto, nel 1987 è stato istituito il Parco Naturale dell’Etna, una riserva naturale di rara bellezza che con i suoi boschi, sentieri, panorami,
prodotti tipici, cittadine dall’inestimabile patrimonio storico, è in ogni stagione dell’anno una delle mete più gettonate dai viaggiatori, che essi siano
amanti della natura, appassionati della buona cucina e praticanti di sport all’aria aperta. Il vulcano è coltivato fino ai mille metri s.l.m. e fortemente
urbanizzato sui versanti est e sud, mentre si presenta selvaggio e brullo sul lato occidentale dove, dai mille metri in su, si scorgono le “sciare”, le
tipiche lingue di fuoco che si tuffano nelle acque antistanti il vulcano.
In this context, in 1987 the Natural Park of Etna was established, a natural reserve of
rare beauty that with its woods, paths, views, typical products, towns with an
inestimable historical heritage, is in every season of the year of the most popular
destinations for travelers, that they are lovers of nature, passionate about good food
and practicing outdoor sports. The volcano is cultivated up to a thousand meters
s.l.m. and strongly urbanized on the slopes east and south, while it is wild and barren
on the western side where, from a thousand meters up, you can see the "ski", the
typical tongues of fire that plunge into the waters in front of the volcano.
- 11 -Sul versante nord invece predomina un ambiente boschivo mentre ad est lo scenario è dominato della Valle del Bove, sui margini della quale si
inerpicano fitti boschi. L’Etna è meta ininterrotta di escursioni di visitatori interessati allo spettacolo offerto dalle sue attività eruttive; in particolare,
quando il vulcano è in eruzione di notte, la sua vista è particolarmente suggestiva: il fiume di lava che scorre lungo le pareti e gli zampilli illuminano
il cielo, contribuendo a creare un gioco di luci unico nel suo genere, che in alcune occasioni è visibile anche dal mare arrivando dalle Eolie. Sono
disponibili anche guide specializzate e mezzi fuoristrada che in completa sicurezza portano i visitatori fino ai crateri sommitali, a circa 3000 m.,
partendo dalle Funivie dell’Etna in zona sud a Nicolosi.
On the north side instead dominates a wooded area while in the east the scenery is dominated by the Valle del Bove, on the margins of which are dense forests.
Etna is an uninterrupted destination for excursions of visitors interested in the spectacle offered by its eruptive activities; in particular, when the volcano is erupting
at night, its view is particularly evocative: the lava river that flows along the walls and the jets illuminate the sky, contributing to create a unique play of light,
which in some occasions is also visible from the sea coming from the Aeolian Islands. There are also specialized guides and off-road vehicles that safely take visitors
to the summit craters, at about 3000 m, starting from the Etna cable cars in the south to Nicolosi.

Nicolosi, dove si apre una magnifica vista sul golfo di Catania con Acitrezza e Aci Castello e la valle del Simeto. Dalle piste di Piano Provenzana invece,
a nord è visibile Taormina e sullo sfondo le coste della Calabria

Da non perdere la visita al Castagno dei Cento Cavalli, un albero di castagno - 7 - plurimillenario, ubicato nel Parco dell’Etna e considerato come il
più famoso e grande d’Italia. Si narra che una regina (forse Giovanna “La Pazza”) con al seguito cento cavalieri e dame fu sorpresa da un temporale
durante una battuta di caccia nelle vicinanze dell’albero e proprio sotto i suoi rami trovò riparo assieme a tutto il numeroso seguito.

sua quasi totalità. La costa è prevalentemente rocciosa e frastagliata, mostra diversi promontori, baie,

La città si sviluppa in parte sull'isola di Ortigia e in parte sulla terraferma; tenendo inoltre presente che
l'intera area è situata all'interno dell'isola di Sicilia, proprio per questa sua peculiarità geografica, Siracusa
è spesso appellata come «isola nell'isola». La particolare ubicazione geografica l'ha resa celebre per i
suoi tramonti, grazie ai punti zenitali dai quali vengono osservati, essi sono stati descritti nei millenni
come tra i più belli al mondo.

L'area di Siracusa fa geologicamente parte dei monti Iblei. La conformazione della costa
determina la vasta insenatura naturale dentro la quale si sviluppa il porto Grande. A circa 1200
metri di distanza dalla punta meridionale dell'isola aretusea, sorge Capo Murro di Porco; il

protetta del Plemmirio. La penisola era detta anche isola (nome odierno dato ad una sua
contrada) poiché un tempo lo stretto lembo di terra che oggi la collega alla terraferma, era
sott'acqua. A nord della città si configura il promontorio di Santa Panagia, dove un tempo
sorgeva il terzo porto di Siracusa: Trogilo. La città si affaccia sul mar Mediterraneo
centrale, attorniata dal bacino del mar Ionio. Siracusa dà il suo nome alla scarpata siciliana,
detta «Scarparta di Malta e Siracusa» (o «Scarpata Ibleo-Maltese»), la quale si sviluppa a est
di Siracusa, nello Ionio, fino a Malta
- 14 -The Syracuse area is geologically part of the Iblei mountains. The conformation of the coast determines the vast natural inlet within which the
Grande harbor develops. At about 1200 meters from the southern tip of the Aretusa Island, stands Capo Murro di Porco; the promontory of the
Maddalena peninsula, in front of which the protected marine area of Plemmirio extends. The peninsula was also called an island (today's name
given to one of its districts) because at one time the narrow strip of land that today connects it to the mainland, was under water. To the north of
the city is the promontory of Santa Panagia, where once stood the third port of Syracuse: Trogilo. The city overlooks the central Mediterranean Sea,
