delimita la geografia
dell’universo creativo?
Questa clinica è un laboratorio, uno spazio di riflessione che indaga la tenace persistenza che perseguita
e genera la spinta creativa dell’artista.
The Obsession Clinic, che si svolge in varie città, lingue e paesi in tutto il mondo, mira a illuminare per i
suoi partecipanti la freccia che trafigge il corpo di lavoro dell’artista. Gli incontri attingono all’analisi, al
dibattito e alla discussione del profilo e dell’operato degli artisti partecipanti indagando le loro linee di
indagine, circostanze e problematiche emergenti.
In primo luogo, si lavora sugli esempi di biografie e archivi personali di altri artisti ed esempi di come
hanno un impatto sul loro lavoro come creatori. Da quel gesto, gli artisti residenti iniziano a costruire un
archivio personale, studiare la propria biografia, lavorare sul proprio albero genealogico artistico e una
mappa delle iscrizioni artistiche nel presente.
Successivamente si lavorerà sull’archivio personale in relazione al nuovo progetto che gli artisti residenti
intendono realizzare/progettare e ai molteplici formati che ogni proposta creativa può avere.
Gli incontri si svolgono in un gruppo di 10 artisti. Ogni partecipante farà una presentazione che si
concentrerà sui tratti identitari, sulla filosofia e sulle modalità di produzione del loro lavoro.
How does the artist demarcate the geography
of the creative universe?
This clinic is a laboratory, a space for reflection that investigates the tenacious persistence that haunts
and generates the creative drive of the artist. The Obsession Clinic, taking place in various cities,
languages and countries around the world, aims to illuminate for its participants the arrow piercing the
artist’s body of work. The meetings draw upon analysis, debate and discussion of the profile and work of
the participating artists by investigating their lines of inquiry, circumstances and emerging issues.
In the first instance, work is done on the examples of biographies and personal archives of other artists
and examples of how they have an impact on their work as creators. From that gesture, the resident
artists begin to build a personal archive, study their own biography, work on their own artistic family tree
and a map of artistic inscriptions in the present.
Subsequently, the personal archive will be worked on in relation to the new project that the resident
artists intend to create/plan and the multiple formats that each creative proposal may have.
The meetings take place in a group of 10 artists, each of whom will have to give an individual presentation
on the identity traits, philosophy and mode of production of their work.

Teatro Em Movimento Rubim Produçôes Belo Horizonte – BrazilMATÍAS UMPIERREZ – BIOGRAFIA Il lavoro di Matías Umpierrrez è un’indagine sul rapporto esistente tra pubblico e finzione. I suoi progetti si pongono alla frontiera delle arti performative, delle arti visive e dei progetti curatoriali generando una dialettica tra memoria-oblio-spettatore-palcoscenico-territorio. Tra i progetti di Umpierrez: Museo de la Ficción I. IMPERIO (videoinstallazione performativa che propone una possibile ‘musealizzazione’ dell’azione drammatica in uno spazio di raccolta museale) verrà presentato esclusivamente in occasione del FIT Festival come proiezione filmica. The Forests (performance video installativa), Constructions (video installazione), TeatroSOLO-LONEtheater (performance site specific), Distancia (spettacolo di teatro virtuale), dramaHOME (performance- intervento), Paisaje (video), 4 MujeresBailan (video), Gente Favorita (teatro), Cuionera Tropical (performance), La Flauta Mágica (opera) e Novela (teatro). Le sue opere sono state presentate in spazi non convenzionali e in diverse istituzioni tra le quali Museo MALBA di Buenos Aires, Museo Reina Sofía di Madrid e Centro drammatico nazionale spagnolo-CDN; Territory Festival di Mosca nell’ambito di New Directors/New Films presentato dalla Film Society of Lincoln Center e MoMA di New York. È stato selezionato dalla Rolex Arts per l’Iniziativa Mentor & Protégé, grazie alla quale ha avviato una collaborazione con il suo mentore, l’artista canadese Robert Lepage. Nel 2016 è stato ospite d’onore, come giovane artista di rilievo, per il Premio Proryv a San Pietroburgo, Russia. Nel 2014, BGH ha nominato Umpierrez uno dei 100 argentini più innovativi degli ultimi 100 anni. Nel 2009 è stato insignito della borsa di studio Iberescena per giovani creatori e nel 2010 ha ottenuto una menzione d’onore per la scrittura teatrale dal Fondo nazionale per le arti dell’Argentina. Nel 2007 è stato assunto dall’Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) come coordinatore della Sezione Teatrale del leggendario Centro Culturale Rettore Ricardo Rojas. Da allora e fino al 2014 ha creato progetti curatoriali, riunendo artisti visivi, teatrali e cinematografici; tra questi: Óperas Primas, Laboratorio Teatro, Panorama en Work in Progress, Proyecto Manual, Decálogo: indagaciones sobre los 10 mandamientos, Intervenciones/Rojas e il Proyecto Clásico. Grazie a progetti come Óperas Primas sono stati scoperti più di 40 artisti emergenti. Umpierrez fonda nel 2014 a Buenos Aires il Festival Internacional de Dramaturgia insieme a istituzioni internazionali e nel 2018 crea la Plataforma Fluorescent, un programma transdisciplinare che promuove la collaborazione tra creatori e istituzioni di diverse aree geografiche. Dal 2015 vive e produce a Madrid.
BIOGRAPHY Matías Umpierrrez’s work is an investigation into the relation existing between the public and fiction. His projects set themselves at the frontier of the performing arts, visual arts and curatorial projects generating dialectics between memory- oblivion-spectator-stage-scene-territory. Umpierrez’ projects have included Museum of Fiction I. EMPIRE (a performance video installation that proposes a possible ‘museumification’ of the dramatic action in a museum collection space), The Forests (a video installation performance), Constructions (a video installation), TeatroSOLO- LONEtheater (a global site-specific performance), Distancia (a virtual theatre piece), dramaHOME (a performance-intervention), Paisaje (video), 4 Mujeres Bailan (video), Gente Favorita (theatre), Cuionera Tropical (performance), La Flauta Mágica (opera), and Novela (theatre). His works have been presented in unconventional spaces and in institutions like Museo MALBA of Buenos Aires, Museo Reina Sofía of Madrid and Spain’s National Dramatic Centre; the Oficina Cultural Oswald de Andrade in São Påulo; Territory Festival of Moscow, as a part of New Directors/New Films presented by Film Society of Lincoln Center and MoMA of New York. He was selected by the Rolex Arts Initiative for their Mentor & Protégé Initiative. The program chooses one young artist, biannually, worldwide for each discipline. Through this initiative Umpierrez started a collaboration and dialogue with his mentor the Canadian artist Robert Lepage. In 2016, he was the guest of honor, as a young artist of importance, for the Proryv Prize in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2014, BGH named Umpierrez one of the 100 most innovative Argentines in the last 100 years. In 2009, he was awarded Iberescena’s fellowship for young creators and he garnered an honorable mention in playwriting from Argentina’s National Arts Fund in 2010. In 2007, he was brought on by the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) as the Coordinator for the Theatre Section of the legendary Rector Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center. From then until 2014 he created acclaimed curatorial projects, bringing together visual, theatre, and film artists; among these included: Óperas Primas, Laboratorio Teatro, Panorama en Work in Progress, Proyecto Manual, Decálogo: indagaciones sobre los 10 mandamientos, Intervenciones/Rojas e il Proyecto Clásico. Thanks to projects like Óperas Primas, more than 40 emerging artists were discovered. Umpierrez founded in 2014 the Festival Internacional de Dramaturgia. This Festival is a co-production with international institutions and noted institutions in the city of Buenos Aires. In 2018 he created the Plataforma Fluorescente (Fluorescent Platform), a transdisciplinary program that promotes collaboration between creators and institutions from different geographies. Since 2015, he lives and produces in Madrid.
MODALITÀ DI PARTECIPAZIONE & ISCRIZIONI Destinato a creatori di teatro, artisti visivi, registi di film, coreografi e creatori di qualsiasi disciplina artistica, purché il loro interesse sia la creazione di progetti/opere. Date/orari workshop: Da LUN 4.10 a GIOV 7.10 ore 11.00/13.00 – 14.00/18.00 Il primo giorno di workshop, l’inizio è previsto per le ore 11.00. Sarà quindi necessario essere a Lugano la mattina del 3 ottobre. Documentazione: Il materiale contenente la documentazione in copia digitale dovrà essere inviato entro e non oltre il 24 agosto 2021. Le selezioni verranno effettuate a insindacabile giudizio dell’insegnante del corso, in collaborazione con la Direzione artistica del FIT Festival Internazionale del teatro e della scena contemporanea e l’esito delle stesse sarà comunicato agli interessati entro e non oltre il 10 settembre 2021. VITTO: Si potranno inoltre acquistare i buoni pasto al prezzo di convenzione di CHF 15.- a pasto. Chi lo vorrà potrà fermarsi a Lugano fino alla fine del festival continuando ad usufruire del pernottamento gratuito e dei buoni pasto in convenzione. PARTICIPATION & REGISTRATION
Intended for theater makers, visual artist, film makers and choreographers and creators of any art
discipline as long as their interest is the creation of projects/works.
Workshop hours
From MON 4.10 to THU 7.10 at 11.00 / 13.00 – 14.00 / 18.00
On the first day of the workshop, the beginning is scheduled at 11.00. It will therefore be necessary to be
in Lugano on the morning of October 3.
Documents: The material containing the digital copy documentation must be sent no later than August
24 ,2021.
The selections will be made at the sole discretion of the teacher of the course, in collaboration with the
Artistic Direction of the FIT International Theater and Contemporary Scene Festival and the outcome of
the same will be communicated to interested parties no later than September 10, 2021
Candidates * must send the following documentation by e-mail:
– registration form (completed in all its parts, also indicating the role for which you are participating)
– a PDF with bio and photos (maximum of one page)
– brief synopsis of a new project they are working on or would like to carry out (this is a first idea that they
will work on during the workshop).

Food, accommodation and conditions
The workshop is FREE.
ACCOMODATION: For the selected residents outside Ticino, accommodation will be available free of
charge (ten minutes by bus from the city center, in multiple rooms to be shared with other participants)
for the entire duration of the workshop.
MEALS: It will also be possible to purchase meal vouchers at the special price of CHF 15.- per meal.
Those who wish can stay in Lugano until the end of the festival, continuing to take advantage of the free
overnight stay and meal vouchers in agreement.
TRAVEL: Travel costs will be borne by the participants.
TICKETS FOR SHOW: The workshop participants will enjoy tickets for the shows on the bill (courtesy price:
CHF 10.-). A show booking form will be sent to the * selected * candidates, which must be returned
STRICTLY in response to the email with which we will communicate that we have accepted your
application.
