SPEEDUP RIBELLE for
YAMAHA-GIANT SincDrive Life - Sport – Pro 2017-18-19-20
PRINCIPI GENERALI e COMPATIBILITA'
◦ SpeedUp RIBELLE-Giant è il dispositivo di sblocco di velocità elettronico e intelligente che mostra dati reali sul display dell'E-Bike
motorizzata Yamaha-Giant SincDrive Life-Sport-Pro anche con sblocco di velocità attivato.
◦ Ribelle per Yamaha-Giant è compatibile con i display Giant-EVO nonchè con il comandino laterale MULTISWITCH e la sua
applicazione bluetooth.
◦ Ribelle per Yamaha-Giant non è compatibile con i motori Yamaha montati da altre case di biciclette elettriche per i quali
sono disponibili altre versioni.
◦ L'installazione di RIBELLE-Giant deve essere eseguita da personale competente.
◦ Il dispositivo deve essere protetto dall’acqua. I danni da acqua non sono coperti da garanzia.
◦ Per il corretto funzionamento del dispositivo Ribelle è necessario, dopo l’installazione, eseguire nell’ordine i due punti “x.3”
(Reset dati) e il punto “x.2” (Impostazione circonferenza) seguendo le indicazioni in base al tipo di display a disposizione.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES and COMPATIBILITY
◦ SpeedUp RIBELLE-Giant is the electronic and intelligent speed release device that shows real data on the display of the Yamaha-
Giant SincDrive Life-Sport-Pro motorized E-Bike even with activated speed release.
◦ Ribelle for Yamaha-Giant is compatible with Giant-EVO displays as well as with the MULTISWITCH side control and its bluetooth
application.
◦ Ribelle for Yamaha-Giant is not compatible with Yamaha engines fitted by other electric bicycle manufacturers for which other
versions are available.
◦ The installation of SpeedUp RIBELLE-Giant must be carried out by competent personnel.
◦ The device must be protected from water. Water damage is not covered by warranty.
◦ For correct operation of the Ribelle device it is necessary, after installation, to carry out the two points "x.3" (Reset data) and point
"x.2" (Setting circumference) in order, following the instructions based on type of display available.
1.0 RIBELLE per Giant con DISPLAY EVO – RIBELLE FOR GIANT WITH EVO DISPLAY
1.1 ATTIVAZIONE E DISATTIVAZIONE DELLO SBLOCCO VELOCITA'.
L’attivazione e la disattivazione dello sblocco di velocità con il display EVO si ottiene digitando sul
comando al manubrio la seguente sequenza di tasti: -, +, -, + (frecce giu-su-giu-su)
A conferma dell'attivazione sul display appare brevemente la cifra 5,0. (il motore assiste fino a oltre 50)
A conferma della disattivazione sul display appare brevemente la cifra 2,5 (il motore assiste fino a 25)
1.1 ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION OF THE SPEED RELEASE.
The activation and deactivation of the speed release with the EVO display is obtained by typing on the side command the following
key sequence: -, +, -, + (arrows: down – up – down - up)
To confirm activation, the display briefly shows the figure 5.0 (motor assists up to over 50)
To confirm the deactivation, the display briefly shows the figure 2.5 (the motor assists up to 25 as original)
1.2 IMPOSTAZIONE CIRCONFERENZA RUOTA
Prima di fare questa impostazione è necessario verificare l’esatta circonferenza del proprio pneumatico e decidere a quale dei 20
codici impostabili corrisponde. Al punto 3.0 si veda l’apposito paragrafo.
Per impostare uno dei 20 codici-circonferenza preimpostati: Premere 10 volte il tasto walk. Al termine delle 10 pressioni viene
visualizzato uno dei codici da 1 a 20 previsti dalla tabella. Premere ancora il tasto walk fino al raggiungimento del codice
desiderato. Attendere 5 secondi il timeout e il nuovo codice-circonferenza viene memorizzato. Attenzione: se durante questa fase
viene scelto il codice speciale 99 (alla 21° posizione) si ottiene la cancellazione dei dati memorizzati da Ribelle descritta al punto
1.3 seguente. E’ opportuno quindi non soffermarsi su questo codice ma continuare a premere ripetutamente il tasto walk per
ricominciare da 1 la visualizzazione della scala codici.
NOTA AGGIORNAMENTO: Con il software 2020 le operazioni del punto 1.2 e 1.3 si eseguono premendo il tasto walk una
sola volta e poi con il tasto “+”.
1.2 WHEEL CIRCUMFERENCE SETTING
Before making this setting, you need to check the exact circumference of your tire and decide which of the 20 settable
codes it corresponds to. At point 3.0, see the appropriate paragraph.
To set one of the 20 preset circumference codes: Press the walk key 10 times. At the end of the 10 presses, one of the
codes from 1 to 20 provided in the table is displayed. Press the walk key again until the desired code is reached. Wait 5
seconds for the timeout and the new circumference code is stored.

Warning: if during this phase the special code 99 is chosen (at the 21st position), the data memorized by Ribelle is deleted, as
described in below point 1.3. It is therefore advisable not to stay well on this 21. code but to continue to repeatedly press the walk
key to restart the display of the code scale from 1.
.UPDATE NOTE: With the 2020 software, the operations of points 1.2 and 1.3 are carried out by pressing the walk key once
and then with the “+” key.
1.3 CANCELLAZIONE DATI MEMORIZZATI DA RIBELLE (RESET)
In alcune occasioni potrebbe essere necessaria la cancellazione dei dati memorizzati da Ribelle come per esempio per la prima
installazione o per la sostituzione di un motore oppure per il passaggio del dispositivo Ribelle ad altra bici. Procedere come segue:
Premere 10 volte il tasto walk. Scorrere i codici fino alla ventunesima posizione che sarà evidenziata con il numero speciale 99.
Attendere 5 secondi senza premere alcun tasto fino al timeout. La cancellazione dei dati sarà effettuata definitivamente, il
conteggio dei km riprenderà dalla quota che il motore ha percepito (inferiori alla realtà) e il codice-circonferenza precedentemente
impostato non sarà variato.
1.3 CANCELLATION OF DATA STORED BY RIBELLE (RESET)
On some occasions it may be necessary to delete the data stored by Ribelle such as for the first installation or for the replacement
of an engine or for the passage of the Ribelle device to another bike. Proceed as follows:
Press the walk key 10 times. Scroll through the codes up to the 21 position which will be highlighted with the special number 99.
Wait 5 seconds without pressing any key until the timeout. The deletion of the data will be carried out definitively, the km count will
resume from the quote that the engine has perceived (lower than reality) and the previously set circumference code will not be
changed.

2.1 ATTIVAZIONE E DISATTIVAZIONE DELLO SBLOCCO VELOCITA'.
L’attivazione e la disattivazione dello sblocco di velocità con il comando “Multiswitch” si ottiene digitando
le seguenti sequenze di tasti: -, +, -, + (giù – Su – Giù - Su)
A conferma dell'attivazione sul comando si accendono in sequenza ascendente i 5 led di livello batteria.
A conferma della disattivazione sul comando si accendono in sequenza discendente i 5 led di livello batteria.
2.1 ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION OF THE SPEED RELEASE.
The activation and deactivation of the speed release with the "Multiswitch" control is obtained by typing the following key
sequences: -, +, -, + (arrow: down – up – down - up)
To confirm activation, the 5 battery level LEDs light up in ascending sequence on the command.
To confirm the deactivation, the 5 battery level LEDs light up in descending sequence on the command
2.2 IMPOSTAZIONE CIRCONFERENZA RUOTA
L’impostazione della circonferenza ruota, data l’assenza di un display a cifre, è necessaria solo se si desidera collegare il
telefonino via bluetooth e utilizzare l’app “Giant RideControl e-bike app”.
Prima di fare questa impostazione è necessario verificare l’esatta circonferenza del proprio pneumatico e decidere a quale dei 20
codici impostabili corrisponde. Al punto 3.0 si veda l’apposito paragrafo.
Collegare lo smartphone con relativa app “Giant RideControl e-bike app” e procedere come ai punti 1.2 (capitolo precedente)
2.2 WHEEL CIRCUMFERENCE SETTING
The wheel circumference setting, given the absence of a digit display, is only necessary if you want to connect the mobile phone
via bluetooth and use the "Giant RideControl e-bike app".

3.0 RILEVAZIONE CIRCONFERENZA RUOTA
Per permettere al dispositivo Ribelle l’esatto calcolo delle percorrenze e della velocità è necessario inserire il valore della
circonferenza della ruota (sviluppo metrico). La circonferenza della ruota varia in funzione di cerchio, pneumatico, pressione di
gonfiaggio e peso del carico e per questo motivo non possiamo indicare le esatte circonferenze teoriche.
Consigliamo perciò di eseguire un semplice test di rotolamento che permette di rilevare con precisione la circonferenza reale.
Procedura:
1- Tracciare un segno sul punto più in basso del pneumatico e uno corrispondente a terra.
2- Salire sulla bici col proprio peso.
3- Compiere una rotazione completa della ruota finché il segno sul pneumatico arrivi di nuovo a terra.
4- Tracciare un secondo segno a terra in corrispondenza del segno sul pneumatico.
5- Misurare la distanza tra il primo e il secondo segno tracciati a terra. La quota rilevata è l’esatta circonferenza della ruota.
3.0 WHEEL CIRCUMFERENCE DETECTION
To allow the Ribelle device to calculate the exact distances and speed, it is necessary to enter the value of the wheel
circumference (metric development). Wheel circumference varies according to rim, tire, inflation pressure and weight of the load
and for this reason we cannot indicate the exact theoretical circumferences.
We therefore recommend carrying out a simple rolling test that allows you to accurately detect the real circumference.
Procedure:
1- Make a mark on the lowest point of the tire and a corresponding one on the ground.
2- Get on the bike with your own weight.
3- Make a complete rotation of the wheel until the mark on the tire reaches the ground again.
4- Draw a second mark on the ground in correspondence with the mark on the tire.
5- Measure the distance between the first and second marks drawn on the ground. The measured quote is the exact circumference
of the wheel.

4.0 LETTURA VERSIONE FIRMWARE di RIBELLE
La versione firmware di Ribelle viene mostrata brevemente sul display ad ogni accensione dell’ebike. Alla data del rilascio di
questo documento la versione è 5,8.
4.0 READING FIRMWARE VERSION of REBEL
The Ribelle firmware version is shown briefly on the display each time the ebike is switched on. As of the release date of this
document, the version is 5.8.
USA SEMPRE IL CASCO!!!!
Date le velocità raggiungibili con la bicicletta grazie a questo
dispositivo si consiglia vivamente l'utilizzo di un casco protettivo.
IMPORTANTE
Una volta installato il dispositivo di sblocco di velocità SpeedUp la bicicletta elettrica, superando il limite dei 25 kmH, viene equiparata ad un
ciclomotore ed in quanto tale, qualora circoli in luoghi pubblici, necessita dell'omologazione/immatricolazione da parte della Motorizzazione Civile, è
soggetta al pagamento del bollo di circolazione e della copertura assicurativa, deve avere la targa, non può circolare sulle piste ciclabili e il
conducente ha l'obbligo della guida con patentino e deve usare il casco. Inoltre la guida di una bicicletta a motore equiparata ad un ciclomotore che
non osservi le predette disposizioni comporta il sequestro amministrativo del veicolo e sanzioni pecuniarie che variano a seconda dell'infrazione
commessa.
Il produttore del sistema di sblocco di velocità SpeedUp declina ogni responsabilità relativa ad eventuali danni provocati alle biciclette a pedalata
assistita sulle quali viene montato il dispositivo nonchè a danni diretti o indiretti a persone o cose.
Si ricorda che la modifica alla bicicletta invalida la garanzia della casa produttrice.
SOFTWARE E-BIKE COMPATIBILI CON I DISPOSITIVI SPEEDUP
Il funzionamento dei dispositivi SpeedUp è garantito per le versioni software delle ebike rilasciate fino alla data dell’acquisto dei dispositivi stessi. Se
l’ebike viene successivamente aggiornata con software per i quali il dispositivo speedup no è stato testato potrebbe verificarsi il mancato
funzionamento dello stesso e speedup non risponde con la garanzia. Prima di aggiornare i motori è necessario verificare la compatibilità con il
vostro dispositivo speedup.
