Attrice (Italia) ❚ Actress (Italy)
Nata a Milano nel 1931, è entrata giovanissima all’Accademia Nazionale d’Arte Drammatica Silvio D’Amico,
per debuttare dopo un anno in teatro con la Compagnia dei Giovani, al fianco di Giorgio De Lullo, Rossel-
la Falk, Tino Buazzelli e Romolo Valli. Sposata dal 1952 con Carlo Alighiero, ha recitato con lui in decine di
spettacoli teatrali in Italia e nel mondo, condividendo vita e compagnia teatrale. Protagonista della tv de-
gli esordi, quella dei grandi sceneggiati in diretta, e con diversi film all’attivo (del ‘52 il debutto, con “La
leggenda del Piave” di Riccardo Freda), sul palcoscenico ha lavorato anche - tra gli altri - con Dario Fo,
Andrea Camilleri, Orazio Costa, Franco Enriquez. Nel 2013 ha vinto la Coppa Volpi per la Migliore Inter-
pretazione Femminile alla 70ª Mostra di Venezia per “Via Castellana Bandiera” di Emma Dante. Nel 2017
è tornata al Lido con “Dove cadono le ombre” di Valentina Pedicini. ❚ Born in Milan in 1931, when she

stage right after one year with the Compagnia dei Giovani, next to Giorgio De Lullo, Rossella Falk, Tino

Star of Tv’s early days, those of the great live drama series, and with several films to her credits (she

ing with Dario Fo, Andrea Camilleri, Orazio Costa and Franco Enriquez. In 2013 she was awarded the
Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the 70th Venice Film Festival for Emma Dante’s “Via Castellana
Bandiera”. In 2017 she was back in Venice with “Dove cadono le ombre” by Valentina Pedicini.
Farnoosh Samadi
Regista (Iran) ❚ Film director (Iran)
Iraniana di Teheran, è laureata all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, ma ha iniziato la sua carriera di
filmmaker all’Iranian Youth Cinema Society. Il suo corto “Il silenzio”, co-diretto con Ali Asgari, è sta-
to presentato nel concorso ufficiale di Cannes 2016, mentre con “Gaze” ha partecipato all’ultimo
Festival di Locarno. Attualmente sta lavorando con Ali Asgari alla sceneggiatura del suo primo lun-
gometraggio. ❚ Born in Teheran, Iran, she graduated at the Rome’s Accademia di Belle Arti, but
she started her filmmaker career at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society. Her short film “The Si-
lence”, co-directed with Ali Asgari, was selected in the official competition at the 2016 Cannes Film
Festival, while “Gaze” participated in the latest Locarno Film Festival. She is currently writing with
Ali Asgari her first feature film.
Morgan Simon
Regista (Francia) ❚ Film director (France)

INTRODUZIO NE In questa opalescente “era digitale”, pur ricca di inedite opportunità e di innovazioni
entusiasmanti, è in corso una guerra totale. Un conflitto sistemico a lungo termine,
INTRO con enormi implicazioni etiche, culturali, antropologiche. Da un lato, tutto tende ad
essere ridotto ad una rigida, implacabile logica binaria, che cerca di imprigionare il

Ma non tutto è questione di numeri. Ai tentativi di ridurre il mondo in categorie pre-
definite c’è sempre qualcosa (o qualcuno) che sfugge, che si sottrae, che non ac-
cetta di sottomettersi all’omologazione. O di farsi fermare dai muri che dividono. È
nella natura degli esseri umani costruire ponti, superare le differenze, attraversare
le distanze, esplorare l’ignoto. Mescolarsi gli uni con gli altri. E non c’è frontiera che
tenga: l’attraversamento dei confini è sempre stato un istinto molto più forte che
rinchiudersi nel proprio piccolo spazio, geografico o mentale che sia.
Lo sconfinamento (di idee, luoghi, linguaggi, corpi), la contaminazione, l’ambi-
guità, le sfumature, sono appunto tra i principi che fin dall’inizio hanno guidato
il nostro festival nel suo lungo percorso di ricerca attraverso le forme audiovisi-
ve più creative e meno convenzionali. Senza mai perdere d’occhio la contem-
poraneità, il reale, l’ambiente che ci circonda, le sue controverse dinamiche - e
guardando spesso anche al passato per capire il presente, o per immaginare il
futuro.
Per quest’attitudine a non tirarsi indietro nemmeno davanti alle più spinose
istanze sociali, dopo un anno di forzata interruzione [A]RCIPELAGO si trasfor-
ma quest’anno - idealmente - nel suo originario equivalente geografico, la-
sciandosi “invadere” da un’ondata di rifugiati e di richiedenti asilo che recla-
mano il diritto di raccontare le loro storie, nell’evento speciale Fuga senza fine
e nel concorso tematico Chiedo asilo. Ad accoglierli sulle “sponde” del festi-
val, oltre ad una solidale “flottiglia” di cortometraggi di ogni provenienza, c’è
Paul Verhoeven, paradigmatico esempio di outsider irriducibile agli schemi
(hollywoodiani, in questo caso), di cui sarà possibile vedere gli inediti corti
giovanili. Accanto a lui, anche quello strano “fenomeno” politico e culturale
che quarant’anni fa riempì le cronache dei giornali italiani (e non solo): il Mo-
vimento del ‘77.
Proprio in quell’ultima rivolta giovanile del XX secolo, in quell’improvviso sca-
tenarsi di energie creative e nelle nuove forme di consumo culturale che ne
derivarono, e di cui ancora oggi ci avvaliamo, in fondo anche [A]RCIPELAGO
ha le proprie radici, la propria identità. L’identità di un “festival militante”.

rary, of reality, of the environment that surrounds us and its
controversial dynamics - while recalling the past to better
understand the present or to imagine the future.
For this attitude of not backing out even when faced with
the thorniest social issues, after a year of forced interrup-
tion, this year [A]RCIPELAGO - ideally - turns into its native
geographic equivalent, allowing for being “invaded” by a
big wave of refugees and asylum seekers who claim their
right to tell their stories, in the Flight Without End special
event and in the Seeking Asylum contest. In addition to a
supportive “flotilla” of short films coming from everywhere
in the world, Paul Verhoeven will welcome them on the
