Francesco Deotto was born in 1982 in Motta di Livenza (Italy), Francesco Deotto is a philosopher, poet, photograph, and translator based in Friuli. *** Some of his photos have been published in websites and magazines as Doppia Esposizione and Antinomie. He was awarded (second place) in the photo competition “100 scatti d’Italia” (organised by the Geneva’s Committee of Italians Abroad, the Department of Media Communications & Photography of Webster University, and the magazine La Voce di Ginevra). He is the author of a book of poetry: Nella prefazione d’una battaglia. Degli esercizi di una ‘labirintica Bestia’, o, quantomeno, di qualcuno che potrebbe non esserle troppo dissimile (Italic, 2018). This book has been selected as a finalist for the “Premio Elena Violani Landi 2019” and for the “Premio Nabokov 2019”. Some of his poems have been published in magazines and anthologies as L’Ulisse. Rivista di poesia, arti e scritture, ipoetisonovivi.com, Poesia Ultracontemporanea, Antarem’s Antologia poetica and gammm (literature, criticism, installation(s), post-poetry, asemic writing, research). Francesco Deotto’s works (photos and poems) have been exhibited at the PAB Punto Arte Benandante (Portogruaro, Italy) and at the Tirana Art Center (Tirana, Albania). *** As a scholar, he is the author of a doctoral dissertation (at the Université de Genève, Switzerland) on the utopian dimension of literature and poetry in the works of Abensour, Levinas, Celan and Derrida. Pratiques, poétiques, résistances / Paul Celan in Translation. Praxis, Poetics, Résistances” (9-10 May 2019) • “Quels espaces? Quels publics? L’espace public: constructions, dispersions, inversions” (27 October 2017) He is the Italian translator of Jean-Luc Nancy’s “Être soufflé” (in Le parole e le cose, 2021) and Jean-Patrice Courtois’s “Imaginer depuis le document” (in Le parole e le cose, 2022, forthcoming).
