JL Missione Wellness: 3.000 ore di test in Spa Per andare incontro alle interessanti opportunità del Trend Wellness, Jersey Lomellina ha voluto testare a fondo i propri tessuti per lo Swimwear in ambiente termale e perfezionarli “in un’ottica Spa”. Ai Brand clienti, Jersey Lomellina è in grado così di offrire per prima tessuti non solo belli e raffinati come il mondo dei centri benessere richiede, ma anche ultra-resistenti all’ambiente insidioso delle Terme e ideali per la creazione di Spa Collection, vere e proprie linee di costumi da bagno “a prova di Spa”. Questo inedito e articolato ciclo di test al vivo, che per la prima volta ha messo alla prova e misurato le performance dei tessuti Swimwear in ambiente termale (per un totale di 3.000 ore di test), è stato realizzato dalla Divisione Ricerca & Sviluppo di Jersey Lomellina, in stretta collaborazione con INVISTA e la sua fibra all’avanguardia LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™. JL Wellness Mission: 3,000 hours of testing in the Spa In order to take advantage of the exciting opportunities offered by the wellness trend, Jersey Lomellina decided to carry out in-depth tests of its swimwear fabrics in a thermal bath environment, with the aim of enhancing their Spa performance. As a result Jersey Lomellina can offer client brands beautiful and refined fabrics that are not only ideal for the wellness environment, but also ultra-resistant to the challenging conditions thermal baths present for fabrics. That’s why they are the ideal choice for the creation of a Spa Collection, a genuinely “spa-tested” swimwear line. This unprecedented in-depth test project, which for the first time demanded intense trials in real-life thermal conditions (a total of 3,000 testing hours) and laboratory analyses, has been carried out by Jersey Lomellina’s Research and Development division, in close collaboration with INVISTA and its cutting edge LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fibre.

Infatti, quelli che rappresentano i più piacevoli elementi di benessere per il nostro fisico (acque termali, vapori, alte temperature, fanghi, profumi, cosmetici e olii) sono i peggiori nemici dei tessuti. I tessuti Wonder e Renew Prime di Jersey Lomellina con la fibra LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ sono stati i protagonisti della grande sfida con gli inediti test al vivo realizzati presso la Spa QC Terme Milano. The big challenge for JL fabrics with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fibre Nothing less than a temple of beauty and bodycare, the Spa creates a welcoming, relaxing environment for its clients, but also presents some tough challenges for the costumes. In fact, the factors that most stimulate our physical wellbeing – thermal water, vapours, high temperature, muds, perfumes, cosmetics and oils) are the fabrics’ worst enemies. Jersey Lomellina’s Wonder and Renew Prime fabrics with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fibre have been the focus of groundbreaking live tests carried out at the Spa QC Terme Milano.
Maestri del Benessere, tester d’eccellenza Il ciclo di test condotti è durato 120 giorni ed ha richiesto numerose fasi di sperimentazione per verificare il comportamento dei tessuti JL a contatto con le sostanze impiegate per i trattamenti, nei diversi ambienti e nelle condizioni specifiche che compongono l’intero ciclo di cure. Dalla sauna al bagno turco, dall’idromassaggio alla piscina termale, dai fanghi allo scrub: i costumi da bagno realizzati con i tessuti Wonder e Renew Prime di JL con la fibra LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ sono stati indossati in maniera intensiva dai “Maestri del Benessere” di QC Terme Milano. L’utilizzo quotidiano dei costumi da parte degli addetti, accompagnato da un’accurata registrazione delle diverse prove effettuate, ha fornito una ricca mole di dati corredata da utili osservazioni impiegate per il perfezionamento dei tessuti. Masters of Wellbeing, expert testers The cycle of tests conducted lasted over 120 days and involved many experimental phases to monitor the behaviour of JL fabrics in contact with the substances used in treatments and in a variety of environments and conditions that make up the entire cycle. From the sauna to the Turkish baths, hydromassage, thermal pool, muds and the scrub - the swimming costumes made with JL’s Wonder and Renew Prime fabrics with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fibre were given intensive wear by the “Masters of Wellbeing” at the QC Terme Milano. Daily use of the costumes by specialists, accompanied by meticolous recording of the various tests carried out, has provided a rich source of data and useful information used for fabric improvements.
Percorsi termali, tessuti sotto stress I costumi realizzati con tessuti JL con la fibra LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ sono stati sottoposti sia ad uso prolungato lungo l’intero percorso di trattamenti, che in test mirati ambiente per ambiente. Obiettivo: testare i costumi per un arco di tempo prolungato, di gran lunga superiore ad un “utilizzo medio reale” da parte di un utente-tipo della Spa. Il test Una parte delle prove è stata realizzata indossando per molte ore i costumi da bagno per l’intero ciclo di trattamenti offerto dalla Spa. In questa modalità “trasversale” su tutti gli ambienti – sauna, bagno turco, idromassaggio, fanghi, scrub - sono stati ripetuti più cicli di test con più costumi, che hanno portato all’esecuzione dell’intero percorso per un totale di 80 ore per ogni costume. Un’altra parte di test ha invece riguardato dei focus specifici “in verticale” su singoli ambienti, ovvero costumi da bagno indossati per più ore ma esclusivamente in un unico ambiente (es. 8 ore solo bagno turco, 12 ore solo sauna). Ciò ha consentito un’analisi incrociata, isolando le reazioni dei tessuti ai singoli ambienti, sostanze e condizioni per una più accurata valutazione. Thermal treatment, fabric under stress Costumes made with JL fabric with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fibre were subjected to prolonged use in the entire range of treatments offered by the Spa, and also in tests targeting the individual environments. The objective was to test the costumes over an extended arc of time, providing a far more intensive challenge than a “real-life average use” by a typical Spa client. THE TEST Some of the tests involved wearing the swimming costumes for many hours during the entire cycle of treatments offered by the Spa. In this way the all-round experience of all the environments – sauna, Turkish baths, hydromassage, muds, scrub - was repeated for several test cycles with a number of costumes. Eventually, each costume was subjected to the entire cycle, a total of 80 hours of use per costume. Another part of the test involved specific “vertical” examinations of the individual environments, with swimming costumes worn for several hours in one environment only. For example: 8 hours in the Turkish bath or 12 hours in the sauna. This provided a cross- analysis that would give a more accurate assessment by isolating the fabrics’ reactions to individual environments, substances and conditions.

After intensive treatment cycles involving a total of 80 hours for every costume,
for a grand total of 3,000 hours of live testing with the Masters of Wellbeing,
JL’s Wonder and Renew Prime fabrics with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fibre showed
outstanding resistance under the most challenging conditions.

Dopo ogni ciclo di test, i costumi realizzati con i tessuti JL sono
stati ritirati e sottoposti a misurazioni e analisi di laboratorio per accertare
il mantenimento della forma e verificare al microscopio le eventuali rotture
della fibra elastica.
Le immagini del tessuto al microscopio, realizzate dopo l’intero ciclo di test,
non evidenziano cedimenti né mostrano rotture della fibra LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™
di INVISTA, che si dimostra ancora una volta la migliore fibra della sua categoria.

Quality under the microscope
Afetr every cycle of tests, the costumes made with JL fabrics were taken out and
subjected to measurements and laboratory analyses to evaluate shape retention
and to check under the microscope for any broken fibres.
The microscope images of the fabric, taken after the entire cycle of tests, show
no sagging or breakage of LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fibre by INVISTA, which once again
proves to be the best fibre in its category.
