twenty ridges, storage of gunpowder,

La zona è ricchissima di tracce della passata
attività di produzione di carbone di legna;
moltissime, infatti, sono le piazzole circolari che
si possono incontrare un po' ovunque
passeggiando in questi boschi. Testimonianza di
un mestiere duro, faticoso e che richiedeva
grande perizia abbinata a molta pazienza. La
carbonaia appare come un grosso cumulo di
legna, foglie, erbacce e terra e alla fine del
processo di combustione con poca aria, darà il
carbone di legna.
