   Diplomacy and
negotiation: the art of
    compromise
      Negotiation is an omnipresent protocol in international relations and
          diplomatic affairs, crucial in defining the future of nations.

  This workshop is conceived to provide the participants with the tools a good
 diplomat needs in order to reach a successful agreement between two states,
 taking into account the pragmatism which characterizes diplomatic relations.
    We have the honour to be guided in the diplomatic resolution process by
 Professor Emilio F. Iodice, former Senior Executive and adviser to the President
     of the United States, one of the most respected diplomats of the USA.

                             WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:

  25th September (14:30-17:00) Explanation of the mediation and negotiation
                 techniques for both states and mediators.

   26th September (14:30-17:00) Presentation of the dispute. Breakdown of the
  participants in three groups: mediators, the entourage of one state part of the
 contention, and the entourage of the other state part of the contention. Start of
                                 the negotiation.

 27th September (14:30-17:00) Achievement of the compromise. Drafting of the
            agreement. Presentation of the work to the experts.

Scrivere nell'era
      della
  Post-Verità
   Informarsi e informare nella Post-Truth era è sempre più complesso. Un
  workshop pensato per chi, come noi, è stanco di leggere articoli di giornale,
                    online o su carta, pieni di false notizie.

 Elisa Serafini ci insegnerà le basi del fact-checking, e la redazione di Orizzonti
Politici spiegherà come si scrive un pezzo giornalistico imparziale, costruttivo e
                                    accessibile.

                          STRUTTURA DEL WORKSHOP:

   25 Settembre (15:00-17:00) Introduzione al "fact-checking" (Elisa Serafini)

 26 Settembre (15:00-17:00) Linee guida per la stesura di un articolo di analisi
puntuale (Orizzonti Politici). Lancio dell'"hackathon": i partecipanti avranno la
    possibilità di scrivere un articolo di analisi su uno dei tre temi a scelta.

 27 Settembre (14:30-17:00) Divisione dei partecipanti in tre stanze tematiche
   che richiamano i temi proposti per la scrittura. In ogni stanza un esperto
 inquadra la questione oggetto della sfida. Ore 23:59: consegna degli articoli.

28 Settembre (18:00) Annuncio del vincitore e pubblicazione del suo articolo sul
                         sito web di Orizzonti Politici.

    Simulation
 A series of workshops thought for all those students who are willing to debate
 some pressing issues of our time. Thanks to the support of the European Youth
   Parliament Italy, we created a space not only to develop opinions on these
       current topics, but also to figure out how your idea of right could be
  implemented in an influential international institution such as the European
                                     Parliament.

                            WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:

 25th September (15:00-17:00) Introduction to the EU Parliament: what does the
              Parliament do, and, above all, how does it work?

 26th September (15:00-17:00) Breakdown of the participants in three groups to
   discuss three different themes: Immigration, Environment and LGBTQ+ and
                           drafting of an EP resolution.

     27th September (15:00-17:00) Presentation of the resolutions to all the
                                 participants

Political Communication
    during COVID-19
 During Coronavirus pandemic negationism, disinformation and fake-news have
 sometimes prevailed over scientific rhetoric. In this uncertain scenario, political
    communication has taken on a central role and strategic narratives drove
 political messaging and propaganda. Leaders addresses to the nation are more
       and more frequent in order to reassure the population and legitimize
                            military/paramilitary action.
    Together with Centro Studi Internazionali, we will analyse communication
  strategies during crisis, focusing on three iconic figures: Jair Bolsonaro, Boris
                             Johnson and Viktor Orbán.

                              WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:

  25 Settembre (15:00-17:00) Introduction to political communication. What is a
                narrative? How can politicians manage a crisis?

   26 Settembre (15:00-17:00) Analysis of concrete cases. The role of emotions.
                            Covid-19 and populisms.

    27 Settembre (15:00-17:00) Breakdown in three groups, one for every case
             study: Jair Bolsonaro, Boris Johnson and Viktor Orbán.

    Gli esperti dell’Istituto Affari Internazionali ci accompagneranno in un
     percorso volto ad approfondire il legame tra tecnologia e relazioni
           internazionali, un tema in continua evoluzione che si basa
   sull’identificazione e il superamento di nuove sfide politiche che stanno
                         trasformando la società globale.

                         STRUTTURA DEL WORKSHOP:

 25 Settembre (17:00-19:00) Introduzione alle Tech-Rel di Jean Pierre Darnis.

    26 Settembre (17:00-19:00) Divisione dei partecipanti in quattro stanze
 tematiche. Francesca Ghiretti ci parlerà delle le differenze tecnologiche tra
        la società cinese ed europea nel contesto post-covid. Lorenzo
 Mariani analizzerà le sfide tecnologico-politiche tra Cina e Stati Uniti. Nicola
 Billotta affronterà il paradigma delle big tech e le sue problematiche per la
 governance mondiale. Infine, Jean Pierre Darnis discuterà l’emergenza della
  sovranità tecnologica europea. Consegna dei materiali per la stesura di un
                         policy brief sulla sottotematica.

 27 Settembre (17:00-19:00) Presentazione dei lavori con Francesca Bitondo,
                       Nicolò Sartori e Anna Veclani.
