The great adventure of Selle Italia began just outside Milan, in the small town
of Corsico, in 1897. Selle Italia was originally founded with the aim of making
travel saddles. In those days, cars were inaccessible to most and bicycles
were the preferred means of transport for many. The turning point came in
the 1970s. The car had long since replaced the bicycle as the primary means
of transport and the bicycle was used more for sport than anything else.
It was in this period that a streak of success began that brought Selle
