Presidente della Fondazione La Triennale di Milano. “Abbiamo puntato su profili
con competenze differenti ma tutti con esperienze e collaborazioni internazionali.
Per il Direttore Generale, abbiamo scelto una figura di grande professionalità
che guiderà l’istituzione nel processo di semplificazione e di revisione della
governance, portando la Triennale a livelli sempre più alti e competitivi con le altre
istituzioni internazionali.
Abbiamo ridisegnato le aree di curatela a partire dai linguaggi espressivi inscritti
nell’articolazione spaziale della Triennale fin dalla sua creazione: il corpo, l’oggetto,
lo spazio, l’immagine.
I Curatori dei quattro linguaggi espressivi sono dunque stati scelti non solo per la
loro esperienza e visione, ma anche per la capacità di gestire i processi creativi”.
Carlo Morfini è stato nominato Direttore Generale della Fondazione La Triennale
di Milano. È stato scelto attraverso l’avviso di selezione pubblicato il 14 marzo
2018 sul sito web della Triennale. Il mandato del Direttore Generale ha una durata
di quattro anni ed è rinnovabile una sola volta.
I Curatori di settore nominati sono: Umberto Angelini per il settore Teatro,
danza, performance, musica; Lorenza Baroncelli per il settore Architettura,
rigenerazione urbana, città, con delega al coordinamento artistico; Myriam Ben
Salah per il settore Arti visive, new media, fotografia, cinema, televisione; Joseph
Grima per il settore Design, moda, artigianato.
I Curatori di settore resteranno in carica quattro anni.
“La Triennale di Milano” prosegue il Presidente Stefano Boeri “intende ampliare e
rafforzare la sua rete di collaborazioni a livello internazionale. In quest’ottica, oltre
a Paola Antonelli, curatrice per l’architettura e il design al Museum of Modern
Art di New York e curatrice della XXII Esposizione Internazionale della Triennale
di Milano, alcune figure di spicco del mondo del design, dell’arte e della cultura
collaboreranno nei prossimi mesi con l’istituzione”.

Carlo Morfini
Carlo Morfini (1960) in oltre 25 anni ha sviluppato una solida esperienza di mana-
gement, sia in Italia sia all’estero; ha ricoperto il ruolo di Amministratore Delegato
e Direttore Generale e ha una forte base nell’Operations Management. I progetti
che ha condotto sono centrati nel Fashion, nel Design e nel Food. Ha vissuto in
situazioni aziendali anche molto diverse tra loro, dalla Multinazionale alla media
Azienda, dalla Ristrutturazione alla Start-up.
Da inizio 2017 opera autonomamente come Advisor e Consulente di Manage-
ment lavorando sia per Imprenditori sia per Fondi di Private Equity.
Dal 2014 al 2016 è stato Amministratore Delegato di Arcadia Spa - Dondup, me-
dia azienda italiana del settore Fashion; incaricato dal Fondo di Private Equity che
ne aveva rilevato la maggioranza, ha focalizzato la sua attività sullo sviluppo del
Brand e sulla sua internazionalizzazione.
Dal 2011 al 2014 è stato Amministratore Delegato di Alice Allison SA, una start‑up
nata in Svizzera nel mondo del caffè. Ha creato dal nulla la società coprendo atti-
vità di Sviluppo del Prodotto e del Mercato. Ha affrontato significativi temi relativi
alla Proprietà Intellettuale.
Dal 2008 al 2011 è stato Amministratore Delegato di Borbonese Spa, storica
azienda italiana di pelletteria; ha condotto una profonda ristrutturazione sia ge-
stionale sia finanziaria.
Dal 2004 al 2008 è stato Operations Director del Gruppo Tods; a lui facevano
capo tutte le attività industriali del Gruppo (dallo sviluppo dei nuovi prodotti alla
loro produzione) per tutti i marchi e per tutte le categorie merceologiche.
Dal 1999 al 2004 è stato Direttore Generale di Marni, al tempo astro nascente del
prêt-à-porter milanese. Affiancava la proprietà nella gestione operativa dell’azien-
da in un quinquennio di continua e, a volte, tumultuosa crescita.
Dal 1989 al 1998 ha condotto, a Milano, una propria “boutique” di Consulenza di
Management.
È laureato in Ingegneria Meccanica al Politecnico di Milano e ha frequentato il
Master di primo livello al MIP.

Umberto Angelini
Umberto Angelini (1968) è curatore di progetti nell’ambito del teatro, della danza,
della performance e della musica.
Dal 2017 è Curatore artistico del Triennale Teatro dell’Arte, per cui ha sviluppato
una programmazione che mette in relazione le live arts, dando spazio a giovani
artisti e compagnie emergenti come ai nomi più rilevanti della scena contempo-
ranea.
Dal 2010 è Sovrintendente e Direttore artistico della Fondazione del Teatro Gran-
de di Brescia.
Dal 2010 è Direttore artistico di Uovokids, progetto dedicato a infanzia e creatività
contemporanea.
Nel 2015 ha ideato e curato la KidsDesignWeek all’interno del Salone del Mobile
di Milano.
Dal 2003 al 2015 ha diretto Uovo performing arts festival, uno dei più importanti
festival internazionali sullo spettacolo contemporaneo, che ha presentato per la
prima volta a Milano alcuni degli artisti e performer più acclamati della scena eu-
ropea e mondiale.
Nel 2009/2010 ha collaborato alla direzione del Teatro Franco Parenti di Milano.
Nel 2007 ha ideato e curato Fashion in Action, evento di cinema, video e new
media dedicato alla moda.
Dal 2000 al 2002 è stato Direttore del settore Performing Arts del CRT Centro di
Ricerca per il Teatro di Milano, Direttore di Short Formats, festival internazionale
sulla nuova coreografia, e membro del board del DBM, network europeo per la
promozione della danza contemporanea nel bacino del Mediterraneo.
Attualmente è membro del Comitato scientifico del Centro Internazionale d’Arte
e di Cultura di Palazzo Te di Mantova e del Consiglio di Amministrazione dell’Uni-
versità degli Studi di Brescia e Advisor di TEDxMilano.
Ha curato e realizzato numerosi progetti nel campo delle Performing Arts per isti-
tuzioni e imprese, tra cui La Biennale di Venezia, Auditorium Parco della Musica,
MITO SettembreMusica, Nike, Enel, Moschino.

Lorenza Baroncelli
Lorenza Baroncelli (1981) è un urbanista, ricercatrice e curatrice.
Ha lavorato sul tema degli insediamenti informali in molti paesi del mondo.
Dal 2015 al 2018 è stata Assessore alla Rigenerazione urbana, Progetti e relazioni
internazionali, Marketing territoriale e Arredo urbano del Comune di Mantova per
cui è stata premiata, nel 2017, come miglior giovane amministratore dell’anno.
Tra il 2015 e il 2016 è stata “Associate Special Projects” alle Serpentine Galleries
di Londra, coordinando il programma di architettura e seguendo l’espansione del
progetto del Serpentine Pavilion che nel 2015 ha visto la costruzione di quattro
“Summer Houses” e dal 2017 lavora con Hans Ulrich Obrist alla produzione di
una mostra su Cedric Price allo Shed di New York.
Tra il 2015 e il 2016 è stata consulente per le strategie urbane e culturali per Edi
Rama, Primo Ministro albanese, ed Erion Veliaj, Sindaco di Tirana, per cui ha
collaborato con Stefano Boeri alla stesura del nuovo Piano Regolatore di Tirana.
Nel 2015 è stata Direttore scientifico della mostra 15 Rooms al Long Museum
di Shanghai, curata da Klaus Biesenbach e Hans Ulrich Obrist e disegnata da
Herzog & de Meuron.
Nel 2014 ha curato con Hans Ulrich Obrist il Padiglione svizzero alla Biennale di
Architettura di Venezia diretta da Rem Koolhaas.
Nel 2013 è stata coordinatore del master in Urban Visions & Architectural Design
alla Domus Academy di Milano.
Dal 2011 al 2012 ha diretto lo studio di architettura di Giancarlo Mazzanti a Bo-
gotà, in Colombia, lavorando alla progettazione di diversi edifici pubblici all’interno
del programma di rigenerazione urbana.
Dal 2009 al 2011 ha lavorato con Stefano Boeri su diversi progetti di ricerca e
urbanistici, tra cui lo sviluppo del Concept Plan per Expo Milano 2015 e la ricerca
promossa dalla Segreteria di Habitaçao di San Paolo sulle politiche di trasforma-
zione degli insediamenti informali nel mondo.
I suoi articoli sono stati pubblicati su diverse riviste, tra cui “Domus”, “Abitare”,
“The New York Times”, “Huffington Post”, e ha tenuto conferenze pubbliche in
Italia e all’estero.

Myriam Ben Salah
Myriam Ben Salah (1985) è curatrice e saggista.
È Direttrice dell’edizione internazionale di “KALEIDOSCOPE”.
Dal 2017 è Editor di “FEB (MAG)”, rivista annuale dell’Underground Museum di
Los Angeles.
È Curatrice di uno dei quattro padiglioni del Jaou Tunis Art Festival.
Nel 2017 è stata nominata Curatrice della decima edizione dell’Abraaj Group Art
Prize ed è stata membro della giuria di BAR (Beirut Art Residency).
Nel 2016 ha collaborato con “F.A.Q.”, pubblicazione di ricerca visiva che ha cura-
to insieme a Maurizio Cattelan.
Dal 2009 al 2016 è stata Responsabile del coordinamento dei progetti speciali e
dei programmi pubblici al Palais de Tokyo di Parigi, dove il suo lavoro si è focaliz-
zato soprattutto su video, editoria e arti performative.
Tra i suoi progetti curatoriali più recenti figurano la mostra collettiva The Pain of
Others per la Ghebaly Gallery di Los Angeles (2018), il progetto I Heard You Lau-
ghing, presentato alla Pejman Foundation di Tehran, alla Galerie Gregor Staiger

Joseph Grima
Joseph Grima (1977) è architetto, curatore e saggista.
Dal 2017 è Direttore creativo della Eindhoven Design Academy.
Nel 2014 è stato nominato Direttore artistico di Matera Capitale Europea della
Cultura 2019.
È fondatore e partner dello studio Space Caviar, che si occupa di architettura e
ricerca indagando le relazioni tra design, tecnologia, teoria critica e spazio pubbli-
co. Lo studio si occupa di costruzioni, pubblicazioni, esposizioni e film, presentati
presso istituzioni internazionali, fra cui la Biennale di Architettura di Venezia, il Vitra
Design Museum, il Victoria & Albert Museum, il Metropolitan Museum of Art e il
Barbican Centre.
Dal 2014 al 2017 è stato Direttore di IdeasCity, programma itinerante di conferen-
ze e residenze organizzate dal New Museum of Contemporary Art di New York.
Nel 2014 è stato nominato Co-Curatore della prima edizione della Chicago Ar-
chitecture Biennial, la più grande esposizione di architettura contemporanea nella
storia del Nord America.
Nel 2012 è stato Co-Direttore della prima edizione della Istanbul Design Biennial.
Dal 2011 al 2013 ha diretto la rivista “Domus”.
È stato Direttore della Storefront for Art and Architecture, galleria indipendente di
New York.
Ha curato diverse biennali ed esposizioni in Europa, Stati Uniti e Asia.
Ha insegnato e tenuto seminari in numerose università in Europa, Asia e America,
fra cui lo Strelka Institute of Media, Architecture and Design di Mosca, sotto la

For the Director-General, we have chosen a person of great professionalism, who
will lead the institution through the process of simplification and revision of its
governance, taking La Triennale to ever greater heights.
We have redesigned the areas of curation around what have been the spatial
divisions of La Triennale ever since its inception: bodies, objects, spaces, and
images.
The Curators of these four areas of artistic expression have been chosen not
only for their experience and vision, but also for their ability to manage creative
processes.”
Carlo Morfini has been appointed as Director-General of Fondazione La Trien-
nale di Milano. The choice was made through a notice of selection published on
March 14, 2018 on the Triennale website. The term of office of the Director-Gen-
eral lasts for four years and can be renewed only once.
The appointed department curators are Umberto Angelini for the sector Theater,
dance, performance, music; Lorenza Baroncelli for the sector Architecture,
urban regeneration, cities, with responsibility for artistic coordination; Myriam Ben
Salah for the sector Visual arts, new media, photography, cinema, television; and
Joseph Grima for the sector Design, fashion, crafts. The department curators
will remain in office for four years.
“La Triennale di Milano”, continues President Stefano Boeri, “intends to expand
and reinforce its network of partnerships around the world. In order to achieve
this, together with Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of Architecture and Design at

Carlo Morfini
Over the past twenty-five years, Carlo Morfini (1960) has built up a wealth of expe-
rience in management, both in Italy and abroad. He has worked both as CEO and
as General Manager and has a solid grounding in Operations Management. The
projects he has headed have focused on Fashion, Design and Food. He has wor-
ked in some very different business situations, from multinational corporation to
medium-sized company, to restructuring firm and start-up.
Since early 2017, he has worked independently as a management consultant and
adviser, both for entrepreneurs and for Private Equity Funds.
From 2014 to 2016, he was the CEO of Arcadia SpA – Dondup, a medium-sized
Italian company in the Fashion sector. Appointed by the Private Equity Fund that
had taken over the majority share, he focused his work on developing the brand
and giving it international scope.
From 2011 to 2014, he was CEO of Alice Alison SA, a start-up in the coffee
sector launched in Switzerland. He created the company from scratch, working
on products and market development. He has tackled some significant issues
concerning intellectual property.
From 2008 to 2011, he was CEO of Borbonese SpA, a historic Italian leather-go-
ods company, which he put through an in-depth management and financial re-
structuring process.
From 2004 to 2008, he was Operations Director of the Tods Group, where he
was responsible for all the Group’s industrial activities (from product development
through to production) for all the brands and all product categories.
From 1999 to 2004, he was the General Manager of Marni, then a rising star in
prêt-à-porter in Milan. He worked with the ownership on the Operational Mana-
gement of the company during a five-year period of continuous and, at times,
tumultuous growth.
From 1989 to 1998, he ran his own management consulting “boutique” in Milan.
He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano University

Umberto Angelini
Umberto Angelini (1968) is curator of projects in the world of theater, dance, the
performing arts, and music.
Since 2017, he has been the Artistic Director of the Triennale Teatro dell’Arte, for
which he has worked on a program that creates interconnections between the
performing arts, opening up to young artists and emerging companies as well as
to top names on the contemporary scene.
Since 2010, he has been the Superintendent and Artistic Director of the Fondazi-
one del Teatro Grande di Brescia.
Since 2010, he has also been the Artistic Director of Uovokids, a project devoted
to children and contemporary creativity.
In 2015, he formulated and curated KidsDesignWeek as part of the Salone del
Mobile in Milan.
From 2003 to 2015, he directed the Uovo performing arts festival, one of the most
important international festivals of contemporary entertainment, which for the first
time brought to Milan the most highly acclaimed artists and performers in Europe
and around the world.
In 2009/2010, he helped run the Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan.
In 2007, he devised and curated Fashion in Action, a cinema, video, and new
media event devoted to fashion.
From 2000 to 2002, he was the Director of the performing arts sector of the CRT
Centro di Ricerca per il Teatro di Milano, and the Director of Short Formats, the
international festival of new choreography. He was also a member of the board
of DBM, the European network for the promotion of contemporary dance in the
Mediterranean basin.
He is currently a member of the Advisory Committee of the Centro Internazionale
d’Arte e di Cultura di Palazzo Te in Mantua and of the Board of Directors of the
University of Brescia, as well as an advisor to TEDxMilano
He has curated and put on the several projects in the field of the performing arts
both for institutions and for companies, including the Venice Biennale, Auditorium

Lorenza Baroncelli
Lorenza Baroncelli (1981) is an urbanist, researcher, and curator.
Her work focused on the theme of informal settlements in different countries.
From 2015 to 2018 she was the City of Mantua councilor for Urban Regeneration,
Planning and International Relations, Territorial Marketing and Urban Design.
Since 2017 she has worked with Hans Ulrich Obrist, putting on an exhibition de-
voted to Cedric Price at the Shed in New York.
In 2015 and 2016 she was “Associate for Special Projects” at the Serpentine
Galleries in London, coordinating the architecture program and, supervising the
expansion of the Serpentine Pavilion, which in 2015 involved the construction of
four “summer houses”.
In 2015 and 2016 she was a consultant for urban and cultural strategies for Edi
Rama, Prime Minister of Albania, and Erion Veliaj, Mayor of Tirana, for whom she
worked with Stefano Boeri on drafting a new urban planning scheme for Tirana.
In 2015, she was Scientific Director of the 15 Rooms exhibition curated by Klaus
Biesenbach and Hans Ulrich Obrist and designed by Henzog & de Meuron at the
Long Museum in Shanghai.
In 2014, she and Hans Ulrich Obrist curated the Swiss Pavilion at the Venice Ar-
chitecture Biennale directed by Rem Koolhaas.
In 2013, she was the coordinator for the Master’s degree course in Urban Visions

In 2011 and 2012, she directed the architectural firm of Giancarlo Mazzanti in

Myriam Ben Salah
Myriam Ben Salah (1985) is a curator and essayist.
She is editor-in-chief of KALEIDOSCOPE magazine’s international edition, and
since 2017, she has been the editor of FEB (MAG), the annual publication of the
Underground Museum in Los Angeles.
She is the curator of one of the four pavilions at the Jaou Tunis Art Festival.
In 2017, she was appointed as curator of the tenth Abraaj Group Art Prize and
was a member of the Beirut Art Residency (BAR) jury.
In 2016, she worked with F.A.Q., a periodical image-only magazine, with the artist
Maurizio Cattelan.
From 2009 to 2016, she coordinated special projects and public programs at the
Palais de Tokyo in Paris, where her work focused mainly on video, publishing and
the performing arts.

Joseph Grima
Joseph Grima (1977) is an architect, curator and writer.
Since 2017, he has been the Creative Director of Design Academy Eindhoven.
In 2014, he was appointed Artistic Director of Matera European Capital of Culture
2019.
He is a founder and partner at Space Caviar, an architecture and research prac-
tice operating at the intersection of design, technology, critical theory and the
public realm. The studio produces built work, publications, exhibitions and films
that have been presented at the Venice Biennale of Architecture, Vitra Design

From 2014 to 2017, he was Director of IdeasCity, an itinerant program of con-
ferences and residencies organized by the New Museum of Contemporary Art in
New York.
In 2014, he was appointed Co-Curator of the first Chicago Architecture Biennial,
the largest exhibition of contemporary architecture in the history of North America.
In 2012, he co-directed the first Istanbul Design Biennial.
From 2011 to 2013 he was Editor-in-Chief of Domus.
He has been Director of Storefront for Art and Architecture, an independent gal-
lery in New York City.
He has curated numerous biennials and exhibitions in Europe, the US and Asia.
He has taught and lectured widely at universities in Europe, Asia and America, in-
cluding the Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design in Moscow under
the direction of Rem Koolhaas. He has served on numerous international juries,
including the jury of the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2010, directed by Kazuyo
