SIMPLICITY PROJECT Extension of the Town Hall

The architects Mathieu Barré, François Guinaudeau
and Romain Pradeau chose a more arduous process that
included both initiatives. The object in question is the
result of a public tender and was made possible thanks
to their own funds, grants and loans.
That said, to great surprise, this was not a large building
or a skyscraper, but simply the extension - a box of brick,
aluminum and wood - of a town hall in a village of 1,300
inhabitants, carried out over a total area of 92 m2.
From an explicit and analytical concept that was almost
as much fun as playing with Lego, they created new
pathways that relate not only to the urban context but
which recognize the refined ease with which the citizen
can interact with public services and while the entrance
is certainly neither central nor conventionally located it
is still recognizable as such. Nevertheless, the choice of
cladding for the wall facing the road and the creation of
a texture facing the courtyard demonstrate a new way
of contrasting the public and private elements as well as
enriching these concepts. The simplicity of definition in
all these elements, as well as the organization of space –
in the council chamber, the lobby, the kitchenette, toilets
and utility rooms - clearly gives a new identity to an
older urban fabric.
Gli architetti, Mathieu Barré, François Guinaudeau,
Romain Pradeau, hanno scelto un processo più arduo
che comprendesse entrambe le iniziative. L’oggetto in
questione è frutto di un concorso pubblico ed è stato
reso possibile anche grazie a fondi propri, sovvenzioni
e prestiti. Detto ciò, a grande sorpresa, non si tratta
di una grande infrastruttura o di un grattacielo, ma
semplicemente dell’estensione - una scatola in mattoni,
alluminio e legno - di un municipio, in un paese di 1.300
abitanti, ottenuta complessivamente in 92 mq.
Da un concept esplicito, analitico, quasi divertente
come giocare con i Lego, sono stati creati nuovi flussi
che non solo si rapportano al contesto urbano, ma

CANTIERI NAVALI E ALLE GIGANTESCHE GRU CHE SONO PARTE INTEGRANTE DELLA SUA STORIA.
