DIFFUSIONE
Il progetto si traduce nella produzione di un DVD che racchiude il documentario e la sua genesi
oltre a schede di approfondimento visive e percorsi interattivi inclusi all’interno di contenuti speciali
e dedicati a tematiche particolari. Il DVD sarà poi divulgato mediante il bookshop di Villa Visconti
Borromeo Litta, e altri punti vendita e il contenuto, opportunamente configurato, proposto per la
messa in onda su canali televisivi tematici di approfondimento storico/artistico. I ricavi della
vendita del DVD andranno totalmente destinati al mantenimento della Villa stessa per i restauri e
la gestione.
SPREADING
The project translates into the production of a DVD that contains the documentary and its genesis
as well as visual analysis sheets and interactive paths included in special contents dedicated to
particular themes. The DVD will then be disseminated through the bookshop of Villa Visconti
Borromeo Litta, and other points of sale and the content, properly configured, proposed for
broadcast on thematic television channels of in-depth historical / artistic, including the TV channel
SKY ARTE HD. The revenues from the sale of the DVD will go totally to the maintenance of the Villa
itself for the restoration and management.
NATURA DEL LAVORO
il "Comune di Lainate", attuale proprietario della villa, e l’Associazione Amici di Villa Litta di Lainate
Onlus, che si prende cura della gestione e dell’accoglienza dei visitatori presso il complesso
architettonico, hanno commissionato al regista e autore Francesco Vitali un film-documentario dal
titolo "VILLA BORROMEO VISCONTI LITTA quattro secoli di storia, un viaggio nel tempo tra delizie
arte e giochi d'acqua". Il film documentario in oggetto ha scopi essenzialmente di tipo divulgativo
e didattico.

WORKING NATURE the "Municipality of Lainate", the current owner of the villa, and the Association of Friends of Villa Litta of Lainate Onlus, which takes care of the management and reception of visitors to the architectural complex, have commissioned the director and author Francesco Vitali a documentary film entitled "VILLA BORROMEO VISCONTI LITTA four centuries of history, a journey through time between art delights and water games". The documentary film in question is essentially for the popular and educational purposes. DURATA DEL FILM DOCUMENTARIO / Duration of the documentary film 89’ minuti SOGGETTO Pirro I Visconti Borromeo, conte di Brebbia, mecenate e uomo di cultura nella Milano spagnola alla fine del XVI secolo, muore nel gennaio del 1604. Il film documentario inizia con la ricostruzione della sua morte a Lainate. Successivamente, il suo spirito accompagnerà lo spettatore nel corso di quattro secoli di storia, attraverso la sua voce fuori campo. Protagonista del film documentario è l'antica Villa di Lainate, ideata e costruita dal Conte Pirro tra il 1585 e il 1589. La Villa, viene rappresentata da una voce femminile fuori campo che guida lo spettatore attraverso le trasformazioni avvenute nel tempo, in un contesto storico sociale di una Milano ricca di avvenimenti. La voce descriverà il patrimonio artistico e culturale della Villa nel corso dei secoli, focalizzando l’attenzione sull’aspetto architettonico ed artistico. Il film documentario mostrerà la meravigliosa ascesa della Villa, le vicende legate alla sua costruzione e le importanti figure storiche che l’hanno visitata e vissuta nel corso dei secoli. Durante gli 89 minuti del film documentario, si alternano interviste con esperti d’arte, di storia e costume, con immagini della villa come la vediamo oggi, e con immagini d'archivio. Il più importante studioso e critico d'arte che contribuisce alla narrazione è il Prof. Alessandro Morandotti, che ha ricostruito la storia della Villa e del suo fondatore Pirro I Visconti Borromeo fin dagli anni ‘80. Un importante contributo al film documentario, viene dato dagli eredi Litta: la nobile famiglia, che custodisce ancora oggi un patrimonio culturale inestimabile e che ha vissuto anche a Lainate dagli anni 20 del 1700 fino alla fine del XVIIII secolo, ha contribuito nel tempo alla trasformazione del complesso architettonico e del suo splendido ninfeo. Con l'aiuto della tecnologia, lo spettatore avrà la possibilità di visualizzare e rivivere il posizionamento originale di alcune delle opere d'arte commissionate ed acquistate per la Villa da Pirro I, ora ospitate nei maggiori musei del mondo, tra le quali: la bella scultura di Adone, scolpita da Marcantonio Prestinari tra il 1600 e 1602, forse la sua prima opera giovanile, in origine nei giardini della Villa e ora al Museo del Louvre; o le due bellissime sculture in bronzo di Venere e Bacco, create per il Ninfeo di Lainate verso la fine del XVI secolo - inizio XVII secolo, ora appartenenti alle collezioni della National Gallery of Art di Washington; quattro dipinti di grande valore artistico venduti allo zar di Russia intorno al 1867 dalla famiglia Litta, tra i quali spicca la Madonna Litta attribuita a Leonardo da Vinci e l’Apollo e Marsia del Bronzino. Le ricostruzioni tridimensionali daranno allo spettatore un’idea di come la Villa era adornata da questi capolavori tra il XVI e il XVIIII secolo. Molto è stato scritto su Pirro I Visconti Borromeo dai suoi contemporanei sulle meraviglie da lui create, ma purtroppo non c'è traccia di ritratti o incisioni che lo ritraggono. Pirro I, figura influente nella Milano della fine del XVI secolo, è quindi fisicamente presente e prende forma nel film documentario, attraverso un attore. L'inserimento di ricostruzioni storiche di alcuni eventi significativi, aggiunge valore filologico ed espressivo a ciò che viene narrato. 6
La musica utilizzata per la colonna sonora è per lo più contemporanea ai periodi storici ricostruiti e analizzati in sequenza cronologica: Giovanni Paolo Cima, Fabrizio Caroso, Cesare Negri, Cristofano Malvezzi, Francesco Cavalli, Johann Christian Bach sono alcuni dei compositori presenti. Nel film documentario vengono condivisi dettagli più specifici su Johann Christian Bach, maestro musica di corte della famiglia Litta tra 1755-1762, protetto da Agostino Litta. THE PLOT Pirro I Visconti Borromeo, Count of Brebbia, patron and man of culture in the Spanish Milan at the end of the 16th century, died in January 1604. The documentary film begins with the reconstruction of his death in Lainate. Subsequently, its spirit will accompany the viewer over four centuries of history, through his voiceover. The protagonist of the documentary film is the ancient Villa di Lainate, designed and built by Count Pirro between 1585 and 1589. The Villa is represented by a female voice that leads the viewer through the transformations occurred over time, in a context social history of a Milan full of events. The entry will describe the artistic and cultural heritage of the Villa over the centuries, focusing on the architectural and artistic aspect. The documentary film will show the marvelous ascent of the Villa, the events linked to its construction and the important historical figures that have visited and lived it over the centuries. During the 89 minutes of the documentary film, interviews with national and international experts of art, history and customs alternate, with images of the villa as we see it today, and with archive images. The most important scholar and art critic contributing to the narration is Prof. Alessandro Morandotti, who has reconstructed the history of the Villa and its founder Pirro I Visconti Borromeo since the 80s. An important contribution to the documentary film is given by the heirs Litta: the noble family, which still preserves an inestimable cultural heritage and which also lived in Lainate from the 20s of 1700 until the end of the seventeenth century, has contributed over time to the transformation of the architectural complex and its splendid nymphaeum. With the help of technology, the viewer will have the opportunity to view and relive the original positioning of some of the works of art commissioned and purchased for the Villa da Pirro I, now housed in the major museums of the world, including: the beautiful sculpture of Adonis, sculpted by Marcantonio Prestinari between 1600 and 1602, perhaps his first early work, originally in the gardens of the Villa and now in the Louvre Museum; or the two beautiful bronze sculptures of Venus and Bacchus, created for the Nineteen of Lainate in the late sixteenth century - early seventeenth century, now belonging to the collections of the National Gallery of Art in Washington; four paintings of great artistic value sold to the Russian tsar around 1867 by the Litta family, among which stands out the Madonna Litta attributed to Leonardo da Vinci and the Apollo and Marsyas of the Bronzino. The three-dimensional reconstructions will give the viewer an idea of how the Villa was adorned by these masterpieces between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Much has been written about Pirro I Visconti Borromeo by his contemporaries on the wonders created by him, but unfortunately there is no trace of portraits or engravings that portray him. Pirro I, an influential figure in Milan at the end of the 16th century, is therefore physically present and takes shape in the documentary film, through an actor. The insertion of historical reconstructions of some significant events adds philological and expressive value to what is narrated. The music used for the soundtrack is mostly contemporary to historical periods reconstructed and analyzed in chronological sequence: Giovanni Paolo Cima, Fabrizio Caroso, Cesare Negri, Cristofano Malvezzi, Francesco Cavalli, Johann Christian Bach are some of the composers present. In the documentary film more specific details are shared about Johann Christian Bach, court music master of the Litta family between 1755-1762, protected by Agostino Litta. 7
