Artist’s Statement
“The ephemeral society and the feminine figures are the most recurrent topics in the re-
search work of Elena Monzo. They are described in each side of their obsession: the outfit
to comply with the mass culture standards and the maniacal attention to details, together
with the need of reflecting a precise flawless image. The aim of the artist is to underline the
decay of society totally fixed upon aesthetic rules. The tools used by the artists are acrylic
colours, graphite, make-up, textures strips and glitters, which unite the different parts of the
bodies creating a chaotic and visionary whole.”
Biohraphy
Elena was born in Orzinuovi in 1981. After graduating in painting at the Brera Academy
of Fine Arts in Milan, where she completely devoted herself to artistic creation of the fe-
male figure. In 2015, she was selected for the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, a prestigious artist’s
residence in the heart of Shanghai for 6 months. In 2013 she exhibited at ‘ArteFiera Bolo-
gna’ and received the Mantova Chamber of Commerce Award for the Mantegnacercasi
competition. In 2012, the artist participated in the Twin Room project in Havana, a part of
the Festival de Arte Jovem, and presented her work in solo exhibitions in Venice at the Tra-
ghetto gallery and in Brescia, at the Colossi Gallery.Selected Solo Exhibitions

just a few meters away from the unique park of Tempelhofer Feld, Luisa
Catucci Gallery, is more then just a conventional art gallery; it places itself
as one of the fundamental elements of the area’s cultural turmoil.
The gallery’s program focuses mainly on art exhibitions, inspired by eco-
logical, social and existential matters, through a variety of media, including
photography, video, painting, sculpture and printmaking.
Beside the exhibitions, Catucci organises regularly multidimensional
events, in order to bind art with talks, culture and enjoyment, supporting
the vibrant spirit of the town and the area.
