The harbour was designed by the architect Viganò, who developed the project for the arrangement of the docks. It was an innovative project because it made use of the docks as an urban path. However, this precious architectural resource is still unused, partly because of an error in the height of the mid-sea, which causes it to go underwater in certain weather and tidal conditions.
